Best farewell scenes in a movie

It's actually this:

"I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhäuser Gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain. Time to die.”

Rutga Hauer actually improvised the final lines, of David Peoples' script, "All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain. Time to die." One of the greatest monologues and it was only 42 words long.
This without a shadow of a doubt

Spooky just came up as a question on The Chase!

Stand by Me.

When they all get back to their small hometown after their adventure and separately drift off to their homes as though its just the end of another day.

But the narrator explains how that day effectively signalled the end of their childhood.

Always brings a tear to my eye.

Shawshank. When Red violates his parole to go and join up with Andy. The monologue when he's buying his coach ticket and is travelling down to Fort Hancock, Texas is brilliant. And the reunion on the beach.

Life is Beautiful when he pretends he's still playing hide and seek for the benefit of his son who is hidden in a cupboard whilst he is marched to execution in the concentration camp just before it is liberated.

Billy Elliot where he’s saying goodbye to his big brother through the coach window and his brother does the 2 fingers :)
The actual ending straight after with his dad being totally overwhelmed with London and then watching his son dance. Gary Lewis who played his dad was brilliant in that film.
