Could go on and on...

I'm a massive fan of French films.

Good/Great French films:
Etre et Avoir - if only my own teaching job were that straightforward - not a fucking Ofsted inspector in sight.
C'est arrivee pres de chez vous (Man Bites Dog) - Belgian and as noir as it gets but brilliant portrayal of a serial killer.
Diva
Un Prophete
Cache
Diary of a Country Priest
The Passion of Joan of Arc
Night and Fog - truly epic documentary on concentration camps
400 blows

Not French, but great:
Il Divo - fantastic portrayal of Prime Minister Andreotti
Gomorrah - good, but the book is even better.

None of the above can match "Kes" though. THE greatest film. Ever.

Echo those who said: downfall, oldboy and City of God.

City of Men (TV series) was also very good.

I also really enjoyed Seven Samurai and Rashoman.

After attempting to learn French and Italian I have seen my fair share of foreign films.
These are my favourite discoveries:
French:
Les Choristes (The Chorus)
Something In The Air
Untouchable (The Intouchables)-an incredible film
La Vie en Rose

Italian:
La Vita è Bella (Life Is Beautiful)
Il Piccolo Diavola (Roberto Benigni is in both of these films, magnificent actor, great for comedy)
Cinema Paradiso (My ultimate favourite)

Highly recommend all of them!

3 colours trilogy
Amelie
The bird cage (French original)
13 Assassins
Ringu
Audition
Ichi the killer
Oldboy
Pusher Trilogy (Danish original)
Man bites dog
Dobermann
Hero

Tons more I can't remember at the moment
