Best foreign films ever...

Downfall. A fantastic portrayal of one man's descent into madness.

Plus, it launched a thousand parody clips!

Descent? I think he was already there for most of his adult life, jim.

Also, parody clips? Are these widely available as I don't think I've ever seen one.

It was a tremendous performance by Ganz.

Oldboy
Downfall
Doberman
Switchblade Romance
Gomorrah
Timecrimes
Ringu
Battle Royale

Mesrine
The Lives of Others
Trolljergen
The Baader Meinhof Complex
Funny Games

Kolja
Musíme si pomáhat
Tmavomodrý svět
Želary
Horem pádem
Obsluhoval jsem anglického krále
Babí léto
Obecná škola
Konec básníků v Čechách
Knoflíkáři
Pelíšky

All from the same language but I rarely watch films in other foreign languages (except Thai and the less said about their films, the better).

Good to see "The lives of others" get a few mentions.

A truly great film.
I was on the train to London last week and got talking to a girl about five years younger than me, who said she was born in East Germany. Trying to impress (or possibly deceive) her about my cosmopolitan levels of urban sophistication I asked her if she'd seen 'The Lives of Others' to which she replied:

"yes, in fact I went to the World Premiere as I'm personal friends with the Director"

which for once left me a little lost for something to say!.

I find the whole East German thing fascinating. Must have been awful to live there. Citizens being forced to inform about friends and family to the Stasi.

More of a documentary than a film, but well worth a watch.

Thanks for that.

The assimilation of East Germany and East Germans into a united Germany is truly astonishing when you think of the cultural and social gulf between East and West Germany.

It shows you how malleable human beings can be.

And if scotland is counted as foreign then restless natives
Also once watched a hong kong film on a bus between kuala lumpur and penang about two sisters who used their murdered fathers technology to fight crime. Cant remember the name of the film but remember the look of surprise on my fellow passengers faces as I shouted 'what the feck' when the main character was killed off in tge middle.
