Best full backs we could buy?

Right back - Fabinho
Left back - Bernat

Keep Sagna and Clichy, integrate Maffeo and Angelino into 1st team to replace these two if Pep thinks they're capable.
Going strictly with stats I might go with Fabihno and Ricardo Perreirra.

Fabinho/Carvajal and Gaya/Wendell are hopefully players we're looking at. Definitely need a couple of new side backs.

PSG have a decision to make at RB, Van Der Wiel out of contract and Aurier to be booted out. I thought we would be linked more with Marc Bartra, but I guess Pep knows him well already and so knows he hasn't kicked on. Same for Lucas Digne, big talent gone quiet as PSG booted him out to Roma but no sure who he's doing, I know they are expected to make his loan permanent come summer.

Speaking to a Bayern supporting colleague of mine, he stresses that Pep wants speedy full backs who can get up and down the pitch all day. Crossing not essential, but ability to cut inside and be comfortable to play one-twos is. I'd suggest Zaba and Clichy most likely to stay, if we can't find what we want in the market then Angelino and Maffeo to come through, or as others have said on here Delph and Fernandinho to be offered the opportunity to expand their skill sets. And if we bring in the likes of Pogba, Xhaka, Gudongan, then woudl make sense to have those two engines playing wing back in a possession based game, with KDB, Aguero and an other buzzing around in front of them, plus those three giants alongside in the midfield. But we'd need one if not two pacy center back additions in that case, so I think Stones and Marquinhos will be more on our radar.

Not sure I see the value in buying full backs at the moment. If Alaba, Alves and the very best are not available, then unless there is a tremendous talent espceailly suited to Pep's tactics flying under the radar right now that we can bring in immediately and get the best out of, then I can't see Pep buying a full back. If Danny bloody Rose can progress so much and get an England call up, surely Pep and his team have enough about them to get some of our EDS playing well in their new system to be just as effective as a £20m gamble.

Don't go off stats then? As Ricardo Pereira is probably only the third best Portuguese LB in Ligue 1, which is hardly a ringing endorsement. He's not really even a leftback, he's a right footed, right winger turned rightback who has played a bit of leftback this year for Nice. I'd be surprised if he's even played 20 games as a leftback in his entire career. I don't know what Nice do with their fullbacks tbh as I'm pretty sure last year Jordan Amavi had something like the highest rating for any leftback on WhoScored and he looks fucking woeful at Villa.

Actually Amavi looked pretty good before getting injured. Well perhaps Perreirra at RB then. He seems to have a knack for it. By the way, who are the better Portuguese LBs in the French ligue?

Coentrao is the obvious first choice when actually fit, which is pretty rare these days. Raphael Guerreiro of Lorient is the next one though, looks a serious prospect.
