Best Guitar Solos

If it was Day on the Green, it was the same show.

It was! I went to so many DOTGs when I was young. It was cheap and you could sit on the baseball field and hear a bunch of bands. Trying to remember who else played. Journey, Night Ranger and a few others maybe?

Edit: I looked it up -- it was REO with 38 Special, UFO, Gamma (I must have missed them -- no recollection what they sounded like or who they were) and Kansas. That must have been near the first show I ever went to. I looked through the list and went to six DOTGs over the years. Journey played with Night Ranger, Triumph (which is why I went -- I loved them) and Eddie Money.

I know I couldnt bother to go through all 14 previous pages but when talking guitar solos we have to mention Ritchie Blackmore, this one is from his Rainbow venture.

Small world, given I was just there on holiday from UK.

I remember the line-up well.

We missed Gamma because we were waiting outside for a British music journalist and photographer who were on tour with UFO to turn up and get us in as guests of UFO. So we had backstage passes and actually got to watch UFO's set from the side of the stage. Don't know if you recall but they weren't very happy and kicked their backline over at the end.

We queued up for food backstage behind Donnie Van Zant and the bass player from Kansas wandered over to chat to us before he went onstage. I also always remember Steve Walsh sucking up to Bill Graham.

Anyway, a very memorable day.

That Journey bill would have been right up my street. Never seen Eddie Money but got lots of his albums. Seen all the others. I was playing Progressions of Power in the car just the other day.
