Some great shouts already but Aguero v Utd in the FA Cup game a couple of years ago also deserves a mention.
I wasn't at the game but I remember Bobby McDonald going in goal v somebody and he got 10 out of 10 in all the papers.

Best against us... Lahm, the other night wasn't bad. Everything else is in Room 101, by now.

As for individuals in games not involving City. Maradona v England (sorry!) in 86(?) and Zidane in the World Cup semi final a few years ago both get a big fat WOW. Also Paul McGrath v Italy in 1994 was a sight to behold.

I think he went in net v Watford??

Correct.
Corrigan did his shoulder in after just 3 minutes and Bobby Mac went in nets and Tueart came on as sub.
Funny thing was the rules for keepers being able to dribble around the area and pick the ball up had been outlawed for that season and this being 3rd game in, Bobby Mac did just that with his first touches of the ball.
The Watford players appealed......... the ref blew and had a quiet word with Bobby about the rule change and didn't penalise him.
Second half Tueart netted the winner from a corner (a header) and in injury time Bobby Mac pulled off a top class save that had the whole stadium rising to their feet to applaud...........

Alex Williams made his debut the following week

PS why can I remember every detail from every game I atteneded in the 80's but very little from games 5 years ago?

Good god that Arse performance about 10 years ago at Maine Rd was awe-inspiring. I truly hate them in general but you just couldnt help but respect that.

For us, the Ali B debut and Dzeko carpet-bombing Spuds in 2011 stand out. Saw that last amongst some Spud mates and I kind of felt like they looked at us the way I had looked at Arse way back when. Great feeling, that.

Has anybody mentioned when Paul Simpson returned to City in 1985? He came back from a loan period somewhere after making his City debut when he was 16. He played in a home game and absolutely dominated for 90 minutes. We still lost 3-2 typical City, but I came away from Maine rd. in awe of his brilliant performance. I think he scored our two goals.
Sorry for the hazy recollection but it was nearly 30 years ago!

I think you are talking about a 2-2 draw over Easter with Cardiff. Yes - he made his debut some 2-3 years earlier at 16 (he had made his reserve debut the previous week apparently and as Bond had no other wingers they decided to chuck him in the first team) and had then completely disappeared only to turn up again as a hero in that game and then be our star man for the rest of the season up to promotion. Thought he was going to be a big star - and di OK in the first division too. Don't know why Machin sold him - one of this personal grudges maybe? Daughter again?

Thanks for that, thought we lost!

Kinky v Newcastle in the 3-3. What a performance from a wonderful player. There were so many games, where he shone through the shit, that you could go on forever about him in this thread, but that day he was truly unstoppable against at the time, one of the best teams in the league. Another shit hot performance from the same game, came via Faustino Asprilla, he too was sensational that day, and I think it was his debut for the toon.

That was a bloody great game - asprilla was like mr tickle!!

Ian bishop was pretty good in the 33 game for Bournemouth.

Asprilla gave Keith Curle an elbow in the mush during that game.

I think they both got sent off (it might have been after the final whistle, can't remember).

In fairness, Curle was a dirty sod, always giving someone some on the sly. But Asprilla was off his head and decided that he wasn't having it. A real nutcase. I think he ended up doing time in South America and I'm sure he got in trouble in Italy for having a habit of pulling a gun on people! Good player. A bit like a smaller Paulo Wanchope.

Best performance i've seen against us was Berbatov for Spurs at our place. He was insanely good that day.

De Jong vs Chelsea at COMS, 09/10 season. Nige was on fire that day, I could always tell when Nige was in the mood 'cos he scampered a lot more than he usually did, it was like, his legs started moving really quickly when he was fired up.

Most Thierry Henry performances against City, the away game in 02/03 I think was a highlight.

Was going to say the same thing. Mid-week League Cup game.

Kinkladze against Newcastle in 96 always sticks out in my mind

Some of the match is on this vid but it's worth watching all of it anyway!

What game was this and what year? Do you have any links to info. It won't be as late as the 80's if it had Tueart in it. My first game was one where Corrigan was subbed through injury but this would have been early to mid 70's. Don't remember the details - unlike you!

3rd game of the season 1982/83.
We won the first three games and went top. Come May and the final game against Luton..........
