Related to this : what happened to Internet jukeboxes? Weren't they supposed to be taking over?None.
The ones classed as good were good about fifteen years ago but they’re not moving with the times. Lots of good music has come out and how to access good music has changed in the time since all these jukeboxes were installed and none of them have any of it or seem to be run by people who’ve heard any of it.
There is a fucking hell of a lot more and better music come out in the last few years than Liam Gallagher’s juvenile efforts and Blossoms’ bland-band boogie. But it seems that jukeboxes only recognise those two as new music.
I’ve not heard a good jukebox anywhere for a long time now.
Depending on when you go in, there’s a certain fella who works in Troff who’ll put his decent playlists from his phone on the speakers.
Jukeboxes should be a thing of the past now anyway. Or at least be updated so they can be used differently.
Everyone has their music collection on their phones now. In my pocket, I have a much bigger and better music collection than any jukebox I’ve ever seen in Manchester. There should be some sort of app where people can access the jukebox pub’s speaker system and be able to queue their songs to a playlist.
Best one then? Was in there last week. It still has a great jukebox but it doesn't seem to have been updated in the last 20 years or so!
The Castle has updated the jukebox in the past year after having it very similar for about 4 or 5 years, there is some more modern stuff on there and they've mixed it up with some other choices which isn't always to my taste but gives a night in there a good vibe - the one upstairs is pretty good too now.None.

I probably went back too far by saying 20 years, but the most recent CDs I could find on there was Metronomy & the White Stripes. Although I love music from the 80s, 90s & 00s, there has been some great music released since then. I always think it's healthy to search out decent new music rather than get stuck in a rut listening to what you liked when you were younger.Best one then?
About 5 years ago we were in a bar in downtown St Petersburg in Florida. I put on a load of Napalm Death, The Fall and Captain Beefheart. After about 20mins they turned it off.Related to this : what happened to Internet jukeboxes? Weren't they supposed to be taking over?
The idea that you could go in a pub, put on Metal Machine Music in it's entirety and enjoy a couple of pints with all the other grateful customers...
