All of them classics aren't they? Schindlers List has got to be right up there too. Oh, and All Quiet on the Western Front. By Christ is that film sad.

I watched One of our aircraft is missing on C4 yesterday. Really dated but a great film none the less.

Schindlers is one of those films I have to prepare for because it has a profound emotional effect on me.
 
Did anyone watch Hope and Glory?


Beginning just before the start of World War II, the movie tells the story of the Rohan family: Bill, his sisters Sue and Dawn, and his parents Grace and Clive, living in a suburb of London. After the war starts, Clive joins the army, whilst Grace continues to watch over the children.

Seen through the eyes of a young boy, the "fireworks" provided by the Blitz every night are as exciting as they are terrifying. His family do not see things in quite the same way as the bombs continue to drop, their will to survive brings them closer together. The nightly raids do not provide the only drama, however, as his older sister falls for a Canadian soldier and finding her life turned upside down, soon discovers how valuable family is. The family eventually moves outside of their London suburban home to the home of Grace's parents

3 war based films ive watched recently are DEFIANCE,BOY IN STRIPPED PYJAMAS and MIRICLE AT ST.ANNA

Schindler's List and Sophie's Choice. Both heartbreaking and both show the HUMAN side of war that is missed by the "shoot 'em up" type war movies that always seem to get made. In that genre, I liked Bridge Over The River Kwai (distinctly British), Tora, Tora, Tora, Saving Private Ryan ( the end scenes, as the Germans roll into town, are just as powerful as the first 30 minutes).

Lots of good choices made on the Forum and have not seen one yet that I would not gladly watch anytime.
