There's a massive fire about 3/4 of a mile from me in Birch Vale near New Mills, fire engines and ambulances been going past for about 30 minutes, apparently its a chemical factory near the Sycamore pub for those who know the area.

I was afraid it would be.

First of all, I hope nobodys injured or worse.

But I also hope it hasn't polluted the lake or the river. Our fishing club has put serious effort and money into those waters.

Im about 5 miles South near to Furness Vale and although I didnt hear anything here explosion wise the Whaley Crew (along with 100 other firefighters+specialist crews) have been sent out to tackle this. My brother is a firefighter but luckily off-duty today, im hoping to get some inside information from him by the morning as to whats happened.
A lot of the guys there are High Peak Blues so hoping they extinguish this blaze quick and everyone is safe.
The A6 will be quite busy i'd imagine tomorrow between the New Mills turn-off and Hazel Grove.
