Big yellow speed cameras

Aren’t speed cameras positioned where there have been a certain amount of accidents?

If it was all about revenue, there’d be loads on roads next to motorways where drivers are getting used to slower speeds and at the bottom of every steepish hill.
If they cared about safety they would fix the streetlights, flood drains and potholes. A cyclist died near me after falling because of potholes. Cameras cut accidents at their locations but everywhere else cars speed and tailgate. Councils massage the stats. The biggest factor in road accidents is poor weather. It’s a scandal.

It absolutely isn't.

The biggest factor is lack of attention/experience/speed and lack of patience. The road environment is which includes the weather is way down any list you can find.

Personally, I think these are great if the educate at least some small proportion of the idiots on the road.

There's one on the a34 heading out of cheadle before the john lewis roundabout
kinnel is there???? since when? I drive that route quite often and haven't noticed it.....been a few weeks since I did though I guess

I wish these cameras were able to see drivers on their phones. That probably causes more accidents than many other factors.

Spot speed, average speed, 3 lanes in both directions at the same time, mobile phone use, seat belts for driver and passenger(s) (not sure about back seat passengers) and has ANPR built in so could be used for insurance/mot/tax offences I suppose in the future. Doesn't use the road markings that the old systems use as it has a built in virtual grid for determining speed and uses infra red so no need for the flash when taking photos.

Just need a massive laser on top to vaporise the cars whose drivers are using their phones.
