Big yellow speed cameras

2 on Errwood Road about 50 metres apart near my house. They’ve definitely slowed the traffic right down, including boy racers.

The speed bumps near us are now being repaired before the potholes because they are not fit for purpose…..
 
All for reducing speeds where needed but there's always Issues I have with the enforcement

  • Speed Limits set too low, for example the new A556 out to the M6, set in places at 40mph - why ?
  • Speed Limits that do not vary dependant on time of day - There's a big difference as to a 20mph zone near a school at 9am or 3pm and driving by a school at 4am in the morning
  • The constant reduction of speed limits - some won't be happy before the man with the red flag makes a re-appearance
  • Smart motorways who reduce speed and display sighs of 'Queues ahead' hours after the roads have cleared because someone hasm't turned the warnings off causing more delays.
  • They do nothing to stop the non licenced / non insured / non taxed or rental scam cars who tear around with impunity but only go after the generally law abiding punter who might stray over the limit occasionally.

Noticed loads of mobile speed cameras and traffic officers with hand helds in North Manchester over the last couple of weeks. Mainly in the evenings after dark which I haven't noticed before.

Doesn't stop the uninsured, unregistered, nicked cars or ebikes flying round the estates though which to me, is more of an issue round here than someone doing 35mph down Victoria Ave.

Easy targets all the time, takes a bit more effort to catch the uninsured, unregistered, nicked cars etc.
