Biggest mistake City have ever made?

Biggest mistake ??? Where do you begin ???

The appointment of Peter Swales was an example of how a well-intentioned genuine fan was appointed to a job that was beyond his capabilities and experience. Huge mistake; however did we survive?

The re-appointment of Malcolm Allison was an example of a well-intentioned idea to build on past success could go horribly wrong. Big Malc was a very capable coach under the guidance of Joe Mercer, but was not very good on his own with nobody holding the reigns. So much money wasted. Huge mistake; however did we survive?

The appointment of Steve Coppel was an example of a bad idea, poorly executed. The wrong guy for the wrong job at the wrong club. Fortunately it only lasted six games.

when alan oakes then manager at chester offered city ian rush for 200,000 and peter swales said no was a very poor decision.

I have the complete oposite side to the Story. I was told or read that Oakes was in some sort of dispute with City at the time and did his best to persuade Rush to join Liverpool.

In answer to the question of biggest mistake - anything to do with Swales (even though he loved the Club dearly) or Malcolm's return to Maine Road; they seem to be the most used answers in the thread and I would agree.
would be interested to know the story over rush apologies if wrong.and off thread but wheres oakes now

What in your opinion is city's biggest mistake,?

Could be this season, last season or the 1900's, what sticks out?

In my liftime id say not sacking hughes on the spot when the money came in, if we had i reckon we'd be 2 years a head of what we are now.

FRANK CLARK.

Coppel. And the fact we didn't learn from employing ex-Rags in managerial positions!

Let the rags play at maine road is another i think, should have let the twats fold.

This without doubt.

No. No. No. No. No. No

City v utd is always a season highlight. It's a fantastic rivalry- one of the biggest and best in world football.

derby day is special and I don't see how any fan of football could seriously want it to end.

I remember running out of the Platt lane stand onto the pitch, dropping to my knees and bowing at Rodney Marsh. It's amazing what you don't realise when your a kid.

There's been a few...

From appointing Swales and then eventually replacing him with Franny fucking Lee to rebuilding The Kippax (should've just put seats in the old stand)...

But by far the biggest was letting the rags share Maine Road. For nothing! Should've sent em packing to Gigg Lane... And I've never heard any of them ever mention it either, especially considering what a huge impact it had on their fortunes. Ungrateful cunts.

How different things would've been!

Ah well. It could be worse. My Dad could've been one of the turncoats who followed them back to The Swamp and I might've grown up being the progeny of a ****.

Selling Balotelli

comic relief night in full swing i see..............

-- Fri Mar 15, 2013 11:50 pm --

Biggest mistakes - where do you start?

If I had to chose out of the huge volume of my 45yrs; probably getting rid of Bernstein - a very talented man, who was shrewdly leading the club in the right direction. So, of course, it was natural we should fire him..................
