Bilbao & San Sebastián

Get the bus between the two and from the airport. It’s a doddle and it’s easy enough to walk to your hotel .
Bilbao is busy but still quite laid back . Try and spoil yourself at least one night in a Michelin starred restaurant. Again, not stupidly expensive and great to look back in .

Another funicular in Bilbao takes you up to one of the surrounding hills where you get great views .
The Guggenheim is the big draw but I honestly thought the best exhibits were outside and the building itself is fabulous. There was a Picasso exhibition which was old school but really good .
Walk the river here and again, the old town is a good place to lose yourself .

Didn’t bother trying to find bars showing football but there are loads that will I’m sure . Don’t mention how good Laporte has become though . They’re still a bit sore on that

Just have one or two Pinxtos and a beer in each place, they normally have a speciality.

This place does great Tortilla, don't think its anything to do with Pablo though

Also, the Cider houses on the outskirts of San Sebastian are a good night, you get a 4 course meal and all the cider you can drink straight from the barrel, we went to this one

On the Michelin star subject, the reason we are going to Getaria is to have the turbot at this restaurant https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Resta...ria_Province_of_Guipuzcoa_Basque_Country.html

Yes, it was about 20 mins bus journey from the centre, then about 10 minutes walk from the bus stop. We got a taxi back. They were geared up for tourists, but seemed to be a lot of locals there as well.

Its cider season at the moment, so there will be quite a few of them open at this time of year.

Thanks , think we will do the same as you

Been to Bilbao a couple of times. Really liked it. But we stayed with friends in Mundaka, just along the coast, which is N Spain's premier surf spot, and did all our eating and drinking there.
