Billy Big Spuds (funeral details on page 17)

Re: Billy Big Spuds

Ahhhh noooo! I hate these threads, there's been too many this year. So sad, I'm gutted and I didn't even know him.

Re: Billy Big Spuds

Very upsetting news, he was so positive in his darkest hour and I was really routing for him to fight it....

I'm heart broken that the lad had sadly passed on but his suffering has come to an end and now he can find peace!

Full condolences to his family and friends!

RIP!

Re: Billy Big Spuds

God bless you Billy. You and your loved ones are in our thoughts and prayers.

Re: Billy Big Spuds

Danny's dad Gary has asked me to post this on his behalf:

On Friday ( last ) 9th November 2012 @ 19.40hrs in Willow Wood Hospice in Ashton under Lyne, Daniels life finally came to a peaceful end.
Dan battled for fifteen days there, but was wonderfully cared for and went in text book fashion without Infection or seizures.
He was eating three course meals right up until after the Ajax match which we watched together and had a great laugh watching the life of Brian the following day before he fell into a Coma like state.

Dan was diagnosed and had his first procedure on 6th October 2011, his 28th Birthday. Two further surgeries including an awake Craniotomy, 30 straight days of Radiotherapy / Chemotherapy at the Christie, Countless stays in Hope Hospital, constant seizures at various times, two courses of Secondary PCV Chemo and still he got no luck.
Diana then lost the much longed for child they craved on Christmas night.
Its fair to say the only bit of luck he did get was right at the end, when Willow Wood accepted him after he was unbelievably sent home from Tameside Hospital.
Sadly, its a fact of life that a lot of you Guys will end up having contact with a similar type of Hospice in one guise or another, but they proved an absolute godsend to us.
I implore you to think of them in your future Charity Donations.

We turned the last twelve months into having as much fun as possible. Every visit to the Christie, was followed by a trip to somewhere from our past, where we lived, where we played football, dovestones, lunch, shopping, anything to make the day more than just Christies.

Dan was in fine form for his Wedding on April 14th and we all had a marvellous day, thanks in no small part to Posters of Bluemoon and Mancityfans, who provided a great deal of the finance to make this happen at such short notice. The stream of messages encouraging him in his fight from you guys was a great source of inspiration to him and i think he repayed those messages in spades with his dignity and humour throughout the struggle.

Diana and the two boys, Deacon and Kieran, are doing ok. They know Dan gave up everything to them in this last year and will have great memories of him.
Di, would particularly like to thank you all, as the Honeymoon they enjoyed on the Algarve in May, was again supported by you all.

Danny Wilson at City just never said no to any request i made, but that ticket he provided next to mine for every match he could make, proved yet another great source of inspiration to get Dan through the weeks between matches.
That same ticket was never better used than on May 13th, Danny even came up with one for Diana, so the three of us had that so special moment together. I can assure you no one celebrated that night more than us three.

Tudor Thomas Hon Vice President MCFC, you know what you did for Dan and his Family, you are the benchmark of what a friend should be and we will never forget.

Daniel really was a caring and loving Bloke who played a brilliant game on these forums, one minute ‘internet warrior’, the next a ‘soothsayer ‘ and font of all knowledge. The messages posted after his passing are a lovely testament to how he was thought of and we are all getting great pleasure from them.

Daniels funeral will be at the Albion Church in Ashton under Lyne and details will be posted later today/ tomorrow if anyone would like to attend. It will be very much football themed and everyone will be encouraged to wear the colours of their team which should produce a nice riot of colour to the occasion

Many Thanks to you all, you did him proud.

He was “Daniel Lewis” and he did “fight to the end”
