Bin collections

We've had it for over 2 years now

Just wait until they start making you take the rubbish to the tip yourself..

I live in Crumpsall so not to far from you pige and we recieved notice about these new collections a couple of weeks ago. Luckily there is just the 3 of us so with the bottles and paper bins we can manage, plus we can put any food waste into those little green sacks and put them in with the garden waste and we'll be ok but i can imagine with larger families it'll be a nightmare.

My mum basically told them to fuck off a few years a go with the recycling bins, so they sent somebody else round who she also told to fuck off, she already recycles, with a bottle bank nearby and has a card and paper collection plus she makes all her own compost so said she'd rather not have the bins.

Just get a extra wheelie bin bought put 2 out job done.
They have them for sale in costco.

Well I did have 2 not so long ago, but every household has been told they should only have one. I watched the guys taking the other one away when all this started 2 weeks ago. Someone on the street enquired about a 2nd bin and the council said that they are allowed to just take them away if they know one house has more than 1 bin, regardless of if you have bought it yourself or not. They're being complete twats about the whole thing.
Anyway i'm going out with the dog now and I expect an essence of bin up and down the entire, trash riddled street. (massively exaggerated there!)

In Stockport, we got black wheelie bins about 6 months ago. But they're the super thin ones, and with only 2 of us on our house, we just manage to get back on a fortnight. No idea how big families manage. I emailed the council, and they sent us a 'Recycling diary' to fill in and send off so a 'Recycling officer' could come round to assess our needs. Feck that.

I can see the idea though, it forces you to recycle, and when we put out out paper, or bottle/can wheelie bins, it's quite good knowing that's not going to landfill (or is it, another topic maybe). You soon get used to it, and each week when I empty my bag of rubbish from my van, instead of chucking it in the bin, I take out the cans and paper and stuff and recycle as much as possible.

It's a bit disheartening though when you see the waste businesses, schools etc make. Throwing out loads of cardboard, paper, bottles, cans and stuff.

Oh, and whilst we're on the moan. One of my gardening customers didn't have a green bin, so they rang up the council and asked for one, because they had a gardener now. Council refused, and said 'trade waste' shouldn't be put in the green bins, and I had to take it to the council tips and charged £35 minimum for it. Logic doesn't enter their heads sometimes....

Here in the fine borough of Trafford we still get a weekly collection, but they have replaced the old large bins with a more petite version. With two young uns, more often than not they are overflowing.

We have a 'blue' week collection, then a 'green' week collection.

Blue week = Food caddy, green bin (garden waste and also food waste), black bin (general waste), small blue bin (paper/cardboard waste).

Green week = Brown bin (plastic, cans, bottles etc) food caddy, green bin.

There's three of us, and I must admit, half the time the brown bin is normally only half full on collection day. The food caddy is full every week. The green bin is only put out once every six weeks (we don't have a large garden).
The smaller blue bin is nearly always full (usually full of junk mail) and the general waste is usually quite full.
We recycle everything, and as it stands with current collections we don't have any issues.

I feel sorry for those Manchester residents who have to use 'communal' waste bins. Now that is the council taking the piss.

Maybe Manchester council have been receiving 'tips' on refuse disposal from the waste disposal 'consultants' from Naples ?
;-)
