Here, there, and every fucking where
Whats everyones take on this topic that is circling in the media at the minute. Its in the newspapers, TV, radio etc. Out of the 92 league teams only 2 managers are "black". Now they are saying they black managers dont get chances etc. Whats your opinion on this? Personally i think its a load of bollocks. If 2 candidates apply for a job, then it doesn't matter if they are black, white, pink, blue or fucking orange!!! The best man gets the job and im sure thats how it happens throughout football in the UK.

Right under your thread..

I haven't read any article on this subject so maybe some of my points will have been covered.

1. Have they stated how many black candidates have their badges which enable them to manage?

2. I know there are a lot of black players playing now, but quite a few are from overseas and therefore maybe don't stay in this country once they retire?

3. There is an over-predominance of Scottish managers currently in the PL, so maybe it's just a quality issue?

I personally have no idea, and would hope that we have moved on from the days when your skin colour would make a difference to your job prospects. If they do bring a ratio type rule in, it will put an inordinate amount of pressure on the black manager concerned.

There isn't even two mate i'd say theres only 1, but the problems not just in football it's much more widespread. I have worked for several companies in the uk and have yet to see a black manager.

All managers should be where they are by talent and nothing more.
There is a "tweed jackets and jobs for the old boys" type mentality at the FA though as we see by many of the stupid rules we have seen or possibility of silly rules brought up by some old duffer who has never kicked a ball in his life.

I think Agent Bernstein will help break that a bit as i don't see him as one of these types.

Chris Hughton and Paul Ince? Hughton's been a coach for years though.

it's nobody's fault if they aren't at the standard required or ex-footballers like Wright(doesn't have a braincell to manage), Les Ferdinand, Kevin Campbell don't bother going into management.

I mean, you can't see any of the recent black England players apart from maybe Heskey going into management could you?

I've always been of the opinion that the best person for the job should get it, but I'm also not naive enough to believe that it's that simple.

The reality is, every manager should start at the lowest level possible and work their way up. Absolutely no preference should be given to any specific skin colour, and if you look at some of the things Paul Ince has come out with over the years, it appears he wants black people appointed just because they are black, and in reverse, that is just as bad.

Call it bull if you want, but I believe Paul Ince has been a detriment to the entire point. Where as Chris Hughton with his demeanour and managerial ability has done a bit of work on repairing impressions.
