Black Sabbath last gig

Still love a bit of Y&T.

Donington '84 was my first proper outdoor concert. Stayed to the end as our lift wasn't budging. From what I remember plenty of piss thrown, Van Halen not living up to the hype, ACDC definitely living up to it, bars shutting at 3!

Big canons then...fuck off!
I was there too

I remember David Lee Roth shouting to some dick in the crowd that if he didn’t shut up he was going to jump down there and fuck his girlfriend:)

Ye
They were, and every other time I saw them including when they blew Sabbath away at the Apollo - and I’m a huge fan.

Not going to this one as already committed to going to Silverstone. Anyway, saw their real final gig at the NEC.
Yeah, we saw them blow Sabbath away too. Though to be fair, Sabs were a shadow of the band I'd seen just three years earlier at the Free Trade Hall, when they were immense.

It was odd, after that gig, I think it was in May (?) they returned in June the same year for a second date. VH had been booted off the tour by then, and were replaced by Tanz der Youth, which although they had Brian James of The Damned on guitar, were shite :-)

PS, OB1 ... I'm getting to see my favourites actually AT the legendary Budokan in October. I'm like a dog with two dicks! :-)

Any talk of Cheap Trick coming here before they finish, unlike this Sabbath thing that's one I'd want to catch.

As Japan is being billed as farewell dates, just two, Osaka and Tokyo (so grateful a lady out there got our tickets on the presale) I would assume all international touring is coming to an end. I'd like to think they will come here on last time, but given they have never had a big following here, it wouldn't surprise me if they didn't.

Unfortunately probably right, shame as all the recent UK dates from covid right through to the Journey tour all got cancelled for one reason or another. Anyway enjoy the Budokan.

I saw Black Sabbath in about 1972 at the old Hard Rock on Great Stone Road in Stretford. Most people will know it now as a B & Q warehouse.

It was nowhere near a sellout, but a great concert, and as was the way in those days, properly, mind numbingly loud.
Saw Santana , Uriah Heep, Status Quo and Focus at the Hardrock.

I saw Status Quo about the same time at the Free Trade Hall.

They were promoting their new album. Hello, which featured the single that made them as a band, Paper Plane.

Lots of paper planes were flying through the hall, made by the audience, but for reasons unknown, they didn't play it.

Live stream is available on YouTube, also on dodgy sticks

Has anybody got a link to watch this? I love sabbath but cant justify 25 quid for it

I decided to live stream it, got a call out to go and do a job for over an hour and had my daughter, husband and our first grandchild who is only 9 days old here most of the day. They're not into metal but they've enjoyed it and young Ruben loved Pantera's version of Planet Caravan. His grandad will make sure he's a metal head. Have to say its been excellent so far, my only gripe would be its stacked with American bands. Got my Ozzy tour shirt from 82/83 out in honour of the man.

Strangely enough only last week me and the Mrs were discussing if Sharon Osbourne was still alive, we knew Ozzy died a few years back then fuck me he is playing his last gig.

Summat odd is going on.

I was lucky I saw Sabbath back in the day, 1978 with my mate Steve P.

But I also saw them with the best ever singer they ever had in Ronnie James Dio about 6 times.

This is nothing more than an Ozzy retirement goodbye. Which is great and there are some fantastic bands in the line up like Metalica who I've never seen.

I saw Ozzy three times back in 1980/1981 with his band the Blizzards of Oz, with the late great Randy Rhodes on guitar RIP.
