Black Sabbath last gig

I was lucky I saw Sabbath back in the day, 1978 with my mate Steve P.

But I also saw them with the best ever singer they ever had in Ronnie James Dio about 6 times.

This is nothing more than an Ozzy retirement goodbye. Which is great and there are some fantastic bands in the line up like Metalica who I've never seen.

I saw Ozzy three times back in 1980/1981 with his band the Blizzards of Oz, with the late great Randy Rhodes on guitar RIP.
Saw Dio at the Apollo. Brilliant showman and a fabulous, almost operatic voice, very different to most in rock.

Metallica are always brilliant live, making the most of arenas and technology but again first saw them at the Apollo. Just gutted I didn't get to see them on their previous visit there with Cliff Burton.

I've seen Ozzy and I've seen versions of Sabbath, but would love to have been there today to see the original version, even if 50 years past their. Think I was something like 800,000th in the ticket queue when I decided it wasn't worth bothering...

The price of tickets, like Sabbath/Oasis were/are just eye watering. I go and see Hawkwind, Saxon, Judas Priest everytime they come to town, and its always reasonably priced.

Sabaton at the CO-OP live in December is about £60, and I'm really looking forward to seeing them for a second time. A superb hard rock band, I was blown away seeing them in Leeds a couple of years ago.

I used to complain when bigger acts started playing the NEC as tickets were so expensive and then you had the coach fare as well.

Should probably join the FOC chat for this, but AC/DC at the Apollo was an outrageously expensive £8 in 1986, whereas Iron Maiden at the end of the year was a much more reasonable £6.50.Inflation takes them up to about £25, so why are no similar gigs anything like that price these days?

I totally agree.

I saw AC/DC at the Freetrade Hall in 1978 and it wasn't a lot of money from what I remember.

Unlike Pink Floyd in 1977 at Bingley Hall Stafford which was just short of a fiver.

I was only on a tenner a week at the time and my mum took a fiver off me for board.

But I'm so glad I went to that concert it was mind blowing.

Agreed, I was at that Floyd gig

Really pissed off trying to go through it this morning. No time stamps or pointers. Sliding along a 10 hour fucking video.

I was a little surprised the line up of bands and singers was so American focused. There seemed you be few if any UK based metals bands? no represntatives from Maiden, AC/DC, Priest, Saxon, Magnum, Whitesnake/ Coverdale, or Led Zep, Purple or Queen? Were they not invited, on tour? or were they too big to attend??
