Saw Dio at the Apollo. Brilliant showman and a fabulous, almost operatic voice, very different to most in rock.I was lucky I saw Sabbath back in the day, 1978 with my mate Steve P.
But I also saw them with the best ever singer they ever had in Ronnie James Dio about 6 times.
This is nothing more than an Ozzy retirement goodbye. Which is great and there are some fantastic bands in the line up like Metalica who I've never seen.
I saw Ozzy three times back in 1980/1981 with his band the Blizzards of Oz, with the late great Randy Rhodes on guitar RIP.
Metallica are always brilliant live, making the most of arenas and technology but again first saw them at the Apollo. Just gutted I didn't get to see them on their previous visit there with Cliff Burton.
I've seen Ozzy and I've seen versions of Sabbath, but would love to have been there today to see the original version, even if 50 years past their. Think I was something like 800,000th in the ticket queue when I decided it wasn't worth bothering...
