In the fifties that was our 'holiday' - steam train from Manchester Exchange, yeah, Exchange, and the whole fuckin' day on the beach. Jug o' tea and chips 's fish from Pablo's (not Zabaleta).
Me too - I recall spending hours walking along the prom around lunch time, as 'me mam' looked for the cheapest fish and chip cafe.
She usually decided on one by tea-time.
Then, onto the pleasure beach - for one ride.
Happy days!

And the bus for lost kids that was parked on the promenade. With the sands being so crowded you could miss where your mam & dad's deck chairs were when you came out of the sea, in which case you went to that bus and hoped they came to get you.

Worst B and B I ever stayed in was in Blackpool, shocking place
Stayed in a Blackpool guest house with my girlfriend in the 80s for B,B & evening meal. Got told off for being late for the evening meal at about 6 ish, the first course was packet soup (rehydrated carrot a giveaway, either that or a small glass of juice), Rest of the meal wasn't better. I'm sure I could hear the landlord breathing in our room at one point, possibly using the baby monitor or something to check on us. Different times.

Bags packed so you lot can stay in gloomy mancville whilst the Carp Deiums among us seize the moment.

Sure that cow said smackpool at the end

We wont be able to sleep or do fook all tonight!

Roll up and spend your last dime. The Scots will be there in numbers mate and I''ll tell you for nothing they know how to enjoy themselves. They could squeeze joy from a dishcloth and we love their company.

@Two Gun Bob tell you what, those slagging a night out in Blackpool are the ones moaning that they are bored, there is nowt to do, etc etc.
You and your missus get out there and enjoy yourselves and surely that is the point. You are dead far longer that you are alive so why not try and have some fun whilst you can.

The Fylde coast is an incredible place and the cliff top walks along Bispham sea front are beyond invigarating. The elegance of Cleveleys, the joy de vivre of Fleetwood famed for those mighty fish suppers, the noise and abatement of Blackpool both north and south and that elegant charm of Saint Annes by the Sea.

The internet is awash with lists of the worlds most beautiful sunsets. Blackpool sadly makes none of them, and thats a crime because it's dipping down below the Irish seas horizon is really something beautiful to behold! Amen:

So basically go anywhere else on the Fylde coast but avoid the shithole itself? I remember thinking the illuminations were shit back in the 70's when even shit stuff otherwise seemed quite good.

I mentioned Blackpool North and South however I suspect you'll be there tommorow for the sunshine, a little like those Daily Mail readers that never read the Daily Mail. Ma Kellys showboat at 15:00 hours and this time Mr Cheese bring your wallet : )

This forum has suddenly become very posh, full of (wannabee) upper class, better than you posters.

It's the illuminations, it's a fun day/evening out. No one is asking you to spend your 2 week annual holiday there
