L’Equipe report Manchester City approach for Blaise Matuidi

According to our colleagues at L’Equipe, Premier League side Manchester City have contacted super agent Mino Raiola about the availability of PSG’s defensive midfielder Blaise Matuidi.

The player is currently unable to sign a contract extension with PSG, because of an ongoing court battle between his current agent Mino Raiola and his former one Jean-Pierre Bernes.

Until this case is resolved, Matuidi is not able to enter contract negotiations with any club. His current deal expires this June.

PSG President Nasser Al Khelaifi has insisted that Blaise Matuidi has already agreed to extend his deal with PSG as soon as he is able to do so.

-- Tue Jan 21, 2014 11:10 pm --

it wouldn't be surprising if we steered clear of him even if he was the perfect fit for us, purely because of his agent.

Seeing as we don't seem to be interested in this window, any signing would probably excite me. But for my money I don't think this guy will be a good fit. Matter of fact, I'd take one of he other 2 midfielders at PSG over him in terms of fitting our style. Both Verrati and Motta would be better fits. But for my money, I'd say plunk down the 45 million for Pogba.

When he was leaving United for free, many posters here said we have Ntcham who is better prospect than Pogba !
Where is that Ntcham now ?

Anyway, we don't need Pogba so badly, therefore we can take our time and let our scout find the next Pogba without paying too much money.
