What made me 'laugh' about the stewarding was that as I went through the turnstiles they asked to search my bag and I explained that I had a bottle of water but, as I am a diabetic, I have a letter from the club (MCFC) giving me permission to take it in and leave the top on. (I explain this at every away match and most stewards seeing an 'old' woman just accept it and wave me through) This jobsworth kept saying, 'no, you have to take the top off' even though I got the letter out to show him. I stood my ground and eventually he let me through. BUT as I was getting the letter out the steward next to us let some lads through carrying unopened cans of Guinness!!!
Now, with no disrespect intended to anyone, who is more likely to cause problems; an old woman with a plastic bottle of water or some guys with cans of alcohol?
But I had a great day out anyway. Sorry for anyone who got caught up in any aggro. A City lad was telling me on Monday that where they came out and were walking away from the stadium they were applauded by Sunderland fans and were being congratulated.
