blocked iphone 4 - any use?

The majority of apple stuff can be tracked through an app available from the app store called 'Find my Iphone' You log onto iCloud and it will display the whereabouts of your iPhone, iPad, IMac and your Touch any where in the world

It also allows the owner to send either an alert or a message or completely wipe the content

Suggest that you don't charge it up as it will lead the plod straight to you. hand it in and if unclaimed then it may be returned to you.

could well be the owners not bothered as it was insured and they will have been upgraded to a 5 anyway.

The owner of the phone would almost certainly have had to pay an excess on whatever Insurance policy they had on it, usually £100 on IPhones. Why on earth would you not hand it in, it's not yours or your mates.

Who do you suggest he should hand it in to? The coppers are not gonna do anything to find the owner.

I understand the point but that isn't true in my experience. I've known someone lose theirs and be called by the Phone Network (Orange in this case) that their phone had been recovered and the police had handed it over to them. I'm assuming they traced the IMEI.

my mate is hading it in today , im leaving him to explain why he kept it so long.

What complete tosh.

Of course he should hand it to the police. The police log the serial number against those listed stolen/lost.

-- Mon Jan 07, 2013 3:55 pm --

if the owner was insured and paid out, then the phone belongs to the insurance company....who have a lot more money to throw behind court cases than your average joe bloggs on the street
Yet the owner is down the excess.

His mate is a theiving ****.
