Blood pressure

126/80
I dream of such a BP.
Docs just doubled my daily amlodipine dose cos I can’t get it below 150/85.
I am an FOC though.
I think we have the same ailments, d. I'm currently taking BP three or four times a day to see! if I need an 'upgrade' to the amlodipine. I record the best of three and if I can get the systolic down below 140 I'm pretty pleased.

Amlodipine and Losarton for me,in the surgery mine goes high but back home I take my own reading and it's fine.
Commonly called “white coat syndrome” and sometimes a result of not taking your BP while in the best body position for it.

Many people who go to the Dr don’t like it, in fact are fearful of news they might receive, and this can temporarily raise your BP.

If ever it is high, ask to lie down, uncross your legs, rest your arm, take a few long deep breaths, and take it again about a minute later!

What you are doing at home is relaxed, no jeopardy or judgement, and thus your blood pressure is more normal!

About 2 years ago, I was getting weighed at Dr’s Office before going into the private exam room. As I went to grab my coat and shoes from the chair beside me, I dropped my coat and a bunch of coins and shit fell out if the pocket and started rolling around! I immediately bend down and am squat walking while trying to pick up all this shit!

Few seconds later, I’m in the room and she says, “Hop up on the table, let me get your vitals!”

Less than a minute later, “Are you on BP Meds as your BP is very high, as is your pulse?!”

“What is it?” I ask

“It’s high. I’ll let the Dr talk to you about it!”

He walks in. First thing he says is “So, very high blood pressure, huh? How long have you had that?”

“About 2 minutes!” I reply!

He already knows my job and thus high BP is not a good thing, so asks what I mean.

I tell him what happened (dropped a bunch of stuff on the floor, etc, etc..) and he tells me, “I’ll take it again later.”

He does my annual physical and finishes with the jelly finger!!! I’m thinking he’s forgotten about my BP, and am just about to say something when he says, “OK, lie down on your back, take a few deep breaths and flop out your left arm for me.”

He takes my BP, perfectly normal 130/80!

He laughs and says, “I cured you!”

I laugh and say, “I thought it’d be higher than that after the jelly finger!”

There are many, many things that can raise (and help lower) your BP. If it’s an issue for you, make sure you give yourself the best chance of a good result by following them.

Just been for my health check up (56yr old ) . Nurse has took blood for PSA, , chloresteral, liver ect . She took my blood pressure which is 126/80 and said that’s good do you exercise a lot ? Not really..
Got home and thought I would Google it , it says 126/80 is pre-hypertension .. Came out proud of myself now slightly worried. Get my blood results on weds hope the doc will clarify or do we have any medical people on here that can help .
I'd take that every day of the week

62, BP at 114/59 day before yesterday, has been similar for the past 5 years. Eat well, possible too well, dont drink much at all, 3 pints at the pub quiz every 2 weeks, stopped smoking 4 years ago, on vapes......walk dogs for an hour a day, average physical work and borderline diabetes. On Statins...... Phone call from docs to assess bloods etc on thursday....Love going to the Drs, I can rest my arm out and she casually places her left boob in my hand whilst giving me a jab, it's almost unbearable. Happy days.
Sounds like she raises your BP right there.

OP, that BP is fine, in fact very good, nothing to worry about

I started suffering from White Coat syndrome a couple of years ago, so now use my wife's bp monitor at home before my check up to obtain a more realistic reading.
She has had blood pressure issues for years (same as her mother did). She was referred to a specialist just after we were married and was told in no uncertain terms to come off the pill and have kids straight away. For both pregnancies she was in hospital from eight months onwards.
Had a few issues over the years including one time when she had a bloodshot eye and the walk in centre sent her to A & E straight away as her top reading was 240 and was kept in overnight.
However since she retired just before lockdown her stress levels have virtually disappeared (even though she has had to put up with my neurosis during that time) so her blood pressure is a lot lower.

My BP might but good but had a text from my doctors that I have Pre-Diabetes.. I’m back at the Docs later so he will explain better.

Mine is low , around a hundred over sixty most of the time , for my age and on HRT that is remarkable , it did go up when i was fat but still normal range , too low sometimes if i get up quick or bend down i get dizzy , but i will take it
