Blue Moon Playlist Review Club - Season 2 - Episode 27 - Out on blue 6 - Gone Too Soon (pg 438)

Not listened to much (if any) of his solo work, that could be today's adventure.
I'd never heard of him before that album, and to be honest the bits I've investigated since were OK but not enough to make me listen again.

But that album - a concept album about losing his Dad in the 1970s - is fantastic both lyrically and musically.

And it's got a banjo!

I think on Lyle Lovett's version it's actually a mix of mandolin and dobro but there's definitely banjo on the original by Steven Fromholz (and the better for it in my opinion but I've always liked Lyle Lovett's slightly laconic vocal delivery).

I stand corrected.

Although if we ever do get that banjo theme, this level of technicality may need a bit of leeway, with anything plinkety-plonkety counting.

Sorry if came off as a pedant, my main point was it really should be a banjo.

Agree about any banjo theme, defo include mandolins and things like banjolines. I would even include this nutter..
