Blue Moon Playlist Review Club - Season 2 - Episode 27 - Out on blue 6 - Gone Too Soon (pg 438)

I hadn't decided whether to go for one of funkier or more rock based tracks, given everything going on in your homeland Cult of Personality would have been highly appropriate!
Don't you know it.

"Ask what you can do for ####".... unbelievable narcissism at its finest.

I played that one too this week and it was the first thing I thought of. I'd love a rally where that got played, at least a sprinkle hint of the legal bill fleecing and heavy ego stroking going on.

I don't think it was as big a hit in the UK as Working my way back to you , and Could it be I'm falling in love: but it's a better song than both of those.
"Working My Way Back to You" was from the roller skating rinks later on, "Could It Be" was a favorite of the parents, but "The Rubberband Man" has that great bass sound that fit this week perfectly.

And agreed entirely with @mancity111, a shame the original crew have all passed, but what a run and second wind they had in the 70's to really make their mark!
This pick has got me thinking that somewhere along the way we've gone very wrong with male vocal groups in modern times. We started off with The Four Tops, The Temptations, The Stylistics and The Detroit Spinners but we ended up with the likes of N'Sync, Back Street Boys, Blue and JLS. That's not a great trajectory is it!
I have no words or explanation of that trajectory at all.

This playlist is missing a little jolt, a little controversy perhaps?, a little pizzaz maybe...

In hono(u)r of the visual of the perfect leading pass from KDB to our guy Haaland to complete today's needed 3 points and a big win, Colin Greenwood gives us...

"Where I End and You Begin" - Radiohead

Haha, we had an absolutely fantastic playlist but you couldn't let it lie you big stirrer you ;-) As I'm doing the Spotify I might substitute it with 4.30 mins of sounds from an abattoir just to see if anyone notices the difference :-)

Yeah, I figured that tying it into the City 2nd goal today wasn't going to be enough.

At least I picked something on the less-known side than the obvious "Anthematic" track. ;-)

I seem to be in the minority here, or possibly even part of what seems a very exclusive club, when it comes to Radiohead. Of cunts that just don't really have any strong feelings about them. It seems very much a hard of 'rate or hate', but I honestly couldn't be bothered one way or the other with them.

So with one pick left I need to decide between

One of the great post punk bassists like Bruce Foxton, Bruce Thomas (Elvis Costello) or Graham Maby (Joe Jackson)

Ron Carter

Duck Dunn

And that's after discounting, amongst others..

Carol Kaye
Stanley Clarke
Tony Levin
Bootsy Collins.

What this thread is missing is a good slap.

Level 42 - Hot Water

Nice choice, so I have slapped like.
(We do already have the Godfather of slap in the playlist with Larry Graham)

Tbh I'm mostly indifferent too but for this particular track I thought I'd channel Foggy!
