Blue Moon Playlist Review Club - Season 2 - Episode 27 - Out on blue 6 - Gone Too Soon (pg 438)

I'll go off piste today and put forward something that doesn't immediately or obviously sound like bass. Rock duo with just bassist and drummer, that to most people sounds like a conventional full band. Maybe not the best example for a bass theme, but we seem to have covered most other things so why not.

Cleopatrick - Hometown

The playlist on page 267 should now be up to date. In doing this I realised there isn't a single reggae song in the whole list which seems a bit mad, so I'm binning off my shortlist for last pick. I was considering mostly Sly and Robbie driven tracks but it was only last week that Aston Family Man Barrret of the Wailers died aged 77 so I've gone for one of his best bass lines:

Them Belly Full -Bob Marley and The Wailers

What I would say is heading into the final day, it's a great playlist but it's a good 2 hour less than some of the other playlists. I know a couple of regulars are absent but I'm a bit surprised by that and maybe that's why it's missing some stellar players and music.

Never heard of them, just had a listen and like it. Basically between you and @Out on blue 6 I need never to actively seek out 'new' music, not sure that's a good thing or not but thanks anyway!

On the subject of never heard of them. based on my Radiohead abattoir sounds comment I thought I wonder what I'll get if I stick the phrase into YT Music and Spotify's search. It brought up a song called Uncle Brian's Abattoir by a Welsh band called Trampolene, in this song featuring Pete Doherty on vocals, based on a couple of further songs they seem like they might be quite interesting.

Lol, quite possibly! In which case I should definitely check them out.

Family Van - Cleopatrick.

A bit of a shite (imo) band name. But a band (duo) I really like. Between 2016 and 2020, they only released individual songs as and when ready. They didn't have any albums out, but they certainly had enough singles for an album. I made myself a playlist and treated it as an album. I eagerly expected an album and had high hopes for it. They finally released their debut and so far only album in 2021. I was a bit disappointed, truth be told. Not that it was particularly bad, but the collection of singles is imo better. This one is off the album, but it goes with the theme. Hometown and Sanjake a good start if exploring further.

Saves me retyping.

Similar to Snash, with having enough singles out for an album, but no albums.

That triggered my memory, I think I went on a ramble about releasing albums in instalments like dickens did novels, too busy blathering about that to remember their name :-(

With the Super Bowl taking place in Vegas in the US later this evening after the EPL matches, I'll end my selections with a homage to one of my and many favorite bands, now holed up (held hostage?) in the Sphere in that same city of blinding lights.

Never one to seek or get the glory, Adam Clayton is the heartbeat and pulse of one if not the greatest bands of all time, still delivering over 4 decades strong:

"Love Comes Tumbling" - U2

(non well-known song is intentional)
