Blue Moon Top 100 Bands Artists - Full List of Artists (pg 287)

Think I have had only 2 so far... Got high hopes for 2 more but think the rest of mine have bombed...
including my 1 Manchester band ..

Arguments about The Smiths, Prog Rock and other quibbles aside, between us, we seem to have done a fairly reasonable job of getting all the major artists one or more votes (I'm including everybody nominated here, not necessarily the top 100).

So ahead of the start of the top 21 tomorrow, here is a list of major artists from the rock and pop era who received zero nominations:-

Beastie Boys

Grateful Dead

Roy Orbison

Madonna

Smokey Robinson and the Miracles

Fats Domino

Jerry Lee Lewis

Muddy Waters

Buddy Holly

Ray Charles

Little Richard

Chuck Berry
How the fuck did no-one pick Ray!?!

Queen. Live Aid saved their arse.
A band on their knees..... and yesterday's men. Then shown live around the world and their career was salvaged.
And the twats were forgiven for breaking the cultural boycott of South Africa (as were Status fucking Quo).
In fact... if Status Quo are in this list I shall resign as a Mod and delete my account from this forum.

They were way past their best by Live Aid. I get how it 'saved' them, but for me it was mostly a bland set. A shadow of them at their early to mid 70s finest. As for the SA thing .... I never understood that they got so much grief for it, while so many others , Elton, Striesand and many more got zero flak?

Anyhooo ...... Missed this thread for a while. Suprises for me, Prince, Skynyrd, REM and Manics so low .... and Husker Du getting in at all!

They were near my top 15. The first record (the original UK release of COURSE) and London Calling are near-perfect.

Also (shhhhhhh) Big Audio Dynamite are a (I said SHHHHHHH) guilty pleasure of mine
Yes first one in The Clash.
Even better higher than Yes.
So far only The Fall and Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds had a chance of being on my list.
Love The Clash too , very nearly on my list and perhaps in hindsight should’ve been
I liked BAD and especially liked Joe Strummer and the Mescaleros, seen them all live.
