Blue Moon Top 100 Bands Artists - Full List of Artists (pg 287)

Take cover - in coming hate mail....... ;-)
I never felt the excitement of "The Beatles have got a new album out next week" or "The Beatles are playing at G-Mex just before Christmas!" Obviously because I'm not old enough. Like I say, I love their music, but in my personal Top 15? No way.

I don't want to give too much away but I will say that certain genres and geographical areas are criminally underrepresented whilst others are unfathomably over-represented.

To a degree that may be a reflection of the individual genres and their preferred delivery mechanisms. I've got hundreds of old Soul, Motown, Northern Soul and Ska recordings, but for the most part they're either singles or part of compilation albums. I toyed with Otis Redding, Bob Marley, The Specials, Martha & the Vandellas, etc, but in the end overlooked them all on the grounds that I seldom listen to more than individual songs in isolation, whereas I could still put something like 'Setting Sons' on and listen to the whole album in one hit......

Just submitted mine, and it was tougher than I originally expected. There were about 10 that for me were no-brainers. The last five were much tougher, and quite a few went in and out of the list. There were a few that I don't necessarily listen to a lot any more, but were such a big part of my life decades ago so I felt they belonged. Can't wait for the results, even though I only expect 4 on my list to be anywhere near the top. Great fun. Thanks.

UK = 4
NA = 11

To narrow things down a little, I limited myself to artists I have seen live. I have stretched a point to include now defunct bands if I have seen ex-members perform live. I concentrated on personal favourites as opposed to "The Best". I was careful to include 1 Manc (well, Stockport) band! Good game...
