Blue Moon Top 100 Bands Artists - Full List of Artists (pg 287)

No matter who it is they miss out in the top 100.
When you look at number 100 and you think how the fuck did that happen.
I don't blame #100 in particular just like I don't blame Half Man Half Biscuit, or Doves. Insular Mancs voted local bands in and not more "deserving" global bands with larger, objectively better catalogs, and insular Brits did the same with non-Manc British bands.

But I think that's fantastic.

And the reason I do is because a) it tells me what City fans are like -- fiercely loyal to locals and locality, which is part and parcel of WHY I fell in love with the club in the first place personally; and b) there's still a ton of support for locally-generated music that has not been subsumed by corporate record company overlords. In other words, you can still build a music career by hard work and obtain a devoted following of your art.

Every night I listen to the latest vote so on Wednesday night I had a listen to Neil Young. I wasn't offended by it but I found it very lame. My wife was offended by it and told me to "switch that shit off ". Each to their own.
His career spans more than 50 years and evolved through many changes in style, tone and topic. Difficult to quantify the sonic gap between "Heart of Gold" and the live version of "Hey Hey, My My." Do you really think one night is enough?

I don't, but, sure, to each his own.

I don't know the order. I predict:

Beatles
Stones
Led Zep
Pink Floyd
Bowie
Oasis
Smiths
New Order
Stone Roses
Jam
Genesis

I think The Pistols miss out, and they should with one good (albeit hugely important) record.

I don't think the Stone Roses with one good (albeit I think very good) record belong anywhere near this list but they'll make it. And people call Rush a cult?

I project the big miss to be Roxy Music (mostly because I voted for them).

I personally think The Jam are quite overrated but I like them okay. Can't see this crowd not voting for them.

I personally think Dire Straits are quite overrated and I dislike them so it will annoy me if they make it in.

If I'm wrong about any of this someone really big is going to miss out entirely.
So we pretty much agree other than I have Dire Straits whereas you have the Jam.
