A recording of a packed Maine Road crowd from a big match, preferably a night game, which we won, before the Kippax became all seater (the 1981 Cup replay against Everton, maybe?). A spine-tingling atmosphere, the like of which you don't quite get at any English ground these days.
A photograph of the Mercer and Allison team, with the managerial duo and a cup or two. Reminds us of what this club should always aspire to, even if it has often fallen short: winning, of course, but also and just as importantly, having fun on the way, playing great football and managing to steer the tricky course of behaving with both flamboyance and dignity.
A copy of Gary James's brilliant Manchester - The Greatest City: not only records the club's tumultuous history, but brings out better than any other tome what a fascinating, beguiling, frustrating, compelling and lovable institution MCFC has been down the years. May that legacy never be forgotten.
A bit too long to get read out, I guess, but I need to explain the choices. The first and second aren't unique to City: a lot of clubs can point to a special atmosphere and their team winning with a bit of style. Nevertheless, those are the most pleasurable things for me in watching football, so we should celebrate that we've managed to achieve them sometimes.
Every fan thinks their club is special and unique in character. Well, I'm no different, and I certainly think it's justified in our case. The third choice is to celebrate that aspect.
