Don't get me wrong here. Gilmour sang two of my top 10 Floyd tracks. Wish you were here and Shine on you crazy diamond, and I think he's up there with the best on guitar. I have have 3 solo albums of his. About Face, On An Island and Rattle That Lock. It's just that can't bring myself to feel chilled out to appreciate them TBH. I think I need to be marooned on a desert Island with a bag of 'cheese' to really appreciate his solo stuff, but I rarely smoke that nowadays. Waters on the other hand is moodily edgy and lyrically thought provoking. I play Waters solo stuff regularly.Sums them up for me too.
Love Gilmour’s work in the band but when he took over writing and singing after Waters left, I never had the same interest.
I expect a bollocking sooner or later from @OB1 on my Floyd views; )

Still looking forward to when you start upping those beats per minute on your list, perhaps by selecting Chopin's Funeral March. :)
Having said that -- Pink Floyd will always lower the average BPM of any list. "Wish You Were Here" has always been my favo(u)rite of theirs (the song as well as the record).

It's not just you. I like them but I can totally see how someone would find them unbearably irritating and pretentious.
How you feel about Pink Floyd is how feel about the 90s/00s incarnation of Pink Floyd . . . namely, the most overrated band in popular music history, Radiohead.

Coldplay are by and large harmless (plus I have a soft spot for "Clocks"); Radiohead (and especially their fans) think they have something "important" to say.

I have several Radihead albums and have no doubt they are one of the most overrated bands ever with the most overrated album ever.
