Bluehammer's 'Top 100 Greatest Songs of All Time'

It's all a matter of opinion. Bowie covered several decades and reinvented his style as times changed. A lot of it depends how old the listener is. Those who are old enough to have been around to his early stuff are more likely to choose a favourite track than his(or any artists) later stuff. Bowie has such a vast catalogue of tracks it's a hard choice, but heroes is a worthy contender for being his best track.

Maybe we should have a fave Bowie track, top 3-5-10 thread ?

It was the release of that Sweet rip-off Jean Genie that turned me into a big Bowie fan and sure enough, that's still my favourite Bowie song but Heroes has moved up and up my list of favourite Bowie tracks.

Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here

Bang on type. Title track of my favourite Floyd album, which is also one of my favourite albums. A lovely little song, a proper classic but not even my fave track on the album.

Mentioned it in other threads on here & got pelters for it!! i’ve never “got” pink floyd i think they are shite, all about opinions ;)

Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here

My favo(u)rite Pink Floyd song, from my favo(u)rite Pink Floyd record (and my favo(u)rite record cover ever by the way), and in my top 20 of favo(u)rite songs ever. Beautiful. A masterpiece.

I can understand how people hate Pink Floyd because I think it's for a lot of the same reasons I hate Radiohead. Except one band has hooks, real singers, more musical talent and did it going on 50 years ago. I like Wish You Were Here (the record) best of Floyd's stuff because it's about watching Syd Barrett going crazy and being helpless to stop it (among other things) -- it's personal, not dystopian.

Yup, it is all about opinions and there's no accounting for taste but i still finding people calling a band shite because they don't like them a bit of a naff way to express and opinion. No band that has allegedly the fourth best selling album of all time and that, if they'd get over themselves and there was no C-19, could go out and probably set records for concert grosses by playing stadia across the world is shite.

Anyone who cannot appreciate that David Gilmour is one of the finest guitarists ever just doesn't get music.

Yes, I'm being pedantic and no I don't take this as seriously as it may sound but FFS artists are not shite just because "you" don't like them.

I think it's okay to call an artist shit because I don't like them -- as long as I can explain why I don't.

For example, "Come on Eileen" is my least favorite song in the universe. Why? Because I can't get the vision of a lead singer who hasn't showered in nine months wearing blue jean overalls with no shirt out of my head. :) I'm convinced I wouldn't hate that song as much as I do without that video.

The only people in human history who have ever pulled off that look successfully are Steve N Seagulls doing their cover of Thunderstruck. More anvil!!!

Errrr . . . well, I seem to have wandered a bit . . . back OT . . .
