Here's my Bolan pick and it was this song that made me want to discover older music as a young whipper snapper

T-Rex - Metal Guru

I know I’m the one out of kilter with the rest of you, but in my book you’ve just gone as cliched as BT.

I saw Dweezil perform Watermelon with ZPZ in Liverpool a few years back when they did the Roxy gigs. Fucking incredible to be fair, he had a tear running down his cheek.
Trouble Every Day is a good shout for a more populist pick, but surely it should be the one that the OP loves the most? Or am I not getting this right?
You’re right, but he hasn’t picked any yet. Not likely to either I would guess.

some nice stuff in your last 10 or so picks mate albeit you know my thoughts on the Genesis track as a ‘song’. I count about 10 of your picks I would be happy to have in mine. Maybe, they are to come but would love to see some classic soul from Otis, Marvin Gaye and the like. Maybe also some of the groundbreaking rock and roll from the likes of Little Richard, Jerry Lee Lewis, James Brown could be in your thinking based on the historical significance of those artists. Nothing so far from the great singer songwriters from the 60s and 70s Carol King, CSNY, Joni, Cat Stevens. Again, no 100 greatest could be complete without a small selection.

such a difficult task to get it down to 100. I was looking at some of my play lists this morning and I reckon I would struggle. Look forward to your next picks.

Ah right, I thought that he’d already mentioned that FZ was going to be in it.
Cant wait for the new Mothers 1970 release, it looks fucking brilliant. The track they’re streaming ahead of the release is superb.

Fucking hell, that’s a hell of a set list. I know a couple of lads who went to see him there, think it was about 1980?
Definitely jealous here, bet you that was a belter.

This was my Hammersmith gig in 1982... I think Dweezil was 14 when he came on and played at the end. Happy memories. RIP Frank

Billy Connolly (born 24 November 1942) is a Scottish comedian, musician, presenter and actor.

He states in his live stage performance in the series Billy Connolly's World Tour of Australia that he is a fan of Zappa. He adds that he used to pass Zappa's house, wishing he could have met FZ. He recalls that Gail Zappa told him that Zappa was an admirer. Connolly appears frustrated at this missed opportunity. He also talks of Zappa being President of the US with glee! He once quipped that had Zappa become US President he would have tried to become Prime Minister in the UK.

"After Frank died, Billy was walking the dogs past Frank's house when Mrs. Zappa came out. 'Are you Billy Connolly?,' she asked. 'Frank was your biggest fan.
