Take care and sorry to hear of your mothers passing.Just a quick update. My Mum passed last night. The gentlest departure. Care home staff are bloody saints.

I'll take a photo of the next one lying alongside my 14" so you can tell. You must think you have a massive knob if you think that carp was bigger than 8lb, mate; )

We turn them up pretty regularly on bread or corn. This one was on fly though. Plenty of salmon in the river and my mate reckons they are "fresh".That surprises me mate. I didn't know they took bait. Unless he was winding in and one took.
In the old days we fished into the dark for them. You could have 2 on at once if you fished a dropper. The river was alive with them. Good fighters and a pretty fish.

I love this thread even though im not an angler!! but given my very limited knowledge i don’t fancy your chances much mate ;(
Welcome to the wonderful Wye mate!
Roughly where did he see them mate?We turn them up pretty regularly on bread or corn. This one was on fly though. Plenty of salmon in the river and my mate reckons they are "fresh".

As the poem goes
Roughly where did he see them mate?
I have only heard of a few fish seen near the tide, and there is next to bugger all being caught!
Damn! That one must have sneaked by whilst I was sea trouting on the Annan.Sugwas and we've seen a monster today at Marsh Court
If i was a salmon I'd wait till you'd fucked off till i swam past. It's not as though you've got the most aesthetically pleasing face mate; )Damn! That one must have sneaked by whilst I was sea trouting on the Annan.
Good luck mate. Hope your nets and car are stinking to high heaven the day after tomorrow.Attempt two on the Nene in the morning. 30 "whopper dropper" balls in last night, another 30 tonight. Fingers crossed we don't blank again and the bream have moved up river after spawning! Role on the 02.15 alarm!
Cheers DD. Watch the end of the football, then bed :-)Good luck mate. Hope your nets and car are stinking to high heaven the day after tomorrow.
