I took a trip to The Ribble this evening. River was dining down after flood and really pushing through. The weather was bright. I had five hours to get my barbel season up and running. Just before I packed away the downstream rod screamed off. A had an enormous tussle with a fish in the floodwater and could tell it was a good one. Turned out to be 9lb 10oz, so a pleasing fish to get off the mark with. If I could have stayed I’m sure I’d have had more.

Well in DD. I had no bites last night on 2 rods, been fishing 3 hours so far today, 1 quick chub bite. Having an hour break and a BBQ, then fish into dusk. That's me done tonight.

Didn't even have a bite but that's fishing. Best bit was feeding about 18 ducks half a bag of old boilies.

Going home tomorrow but alarm is set for early 5 bells so I can sneak another 3 hours on the bank: )

First cast was 5:10 on a beautiful summer morning as dawn broke. Caught a 2lb chub and a barbel about 5lb and lost a bigger fish on a gravel bar, all within half-hour. Short 3 hour session gave me one more barbel I was after.
