Where is that mate?

River Avon in Warwick closer to home than I usually go. It's near a pub called the Saxon Mill which is a cracking pub when it's open. You can sit outside having a beer overlooking the mill pond where the river comes under the pub and through the water wheel.

There's no fishing allowed in the pond itself but I've seen some big carp in there. I usually avoid it like the plague as there are too many dog-walkers, wild swimmers etc in good weather. These conditions mean there aren't many people about. It's cold though.

Nice one. I imagine you get quite a few different species in there?

When the pubs Re open and you have some time, I strongly suggest a visit to Wadenhoe, Northants and a pint in the King’s Head. It sits right on the River Nene and offers both great beer and fishing

Definitely. Never been to that part of the country but fully intend to once things get back to normal

I've had roach, perch, dace, gudgeon, carp, bream, trout and chub. I think I've had a rudd too but can't remember for certain. There are definitely pike because they harrass me and I understand there are barbel and I've seen pictures of some big ones but I've not had a sniff. There again, I haven't really got the patience to sit it out on a big bait.

He does, but it's a good job catfish are docile when caught because holding a feisty fish that size stood up could harm it if it flipped out of his grasp. I think he caught that Mequinenza on the Ebro a couple of years ago.
I actually commented on that in another thread. His fish handling is poor. There’s a photo of him standing up holding a carp too.

Fucking noddies.

Had a walk around Walkerwood reservoir local to me. Formally a trout water it's now a carp syndicate holding a couple or dozen or so carp(reputed) to low 30s. Hard to believe as its a slightly acidic cold resi containing little natural food. Beautiful water though, and the bottom reservoir of 4 that provide drinking water for greater Manchester.IMG_20210210_112450094_copy_1310x982.jpg
