Im planning on getting back into fishing after having not been for roughly 15 years and my 11 year old lad is eager to start with me. Where would people recommend for day ticket fish (mainly for carp and course fishing) either in or local to Manchester?

Whats Roman Lakes like nowadays? Ive fish there, Cudmore and wyeside a few times in the past.

roman lakes is chock full of weed, not a place to get back into it , a lake i started was a place called goose green, plenty of fish in the lake next to the car park, there are 4 lakes there now so plenty of space and choice, depends how far you are willing to travel

I went on my local river yesterday morning with my daughter, had a few brown trout up to 3lb and a couple of small chub up to the same when my daughter hooked into something big. Took her on a merry dance for 20 minutes until we finally landed it . It was a big brown trout of at a guess 6lb to 8lb the biggest I’ve ever seen from this small river , I’ve got some photos of me holding it cos she wouldn’t go near it when she saw it mouth full of teeth, not that pc savvy so don’t know how to post pictures sorry.

A mate of mine has just moved near the river Severn ,and wants to get into the river fishing,I mainly fish lakes and ponds so don’t know a lot about it ,he’s asking me for advice on what type of rods and reels he needs to buy ,and what’s sort of end tackle ,he wants to go for the barbel and chub ,any advice will be very welcome ,ps he does fish but mainly sea fishing ,thanks in advance
