Bluemoon Angling Thread

sounds good. Thats how I learned from others. Its like another hobby. With the lockdown I now have more flies than I could ever use. Probably now the most expensive piece of kit that I have from an insurance perspective. They sell them over here for £1.50 a fly. and I must have near as damn it 5000.
Just send some over then you can tie more, Snorky would probably help you out too. Shame my business wasn't affected, would have loved some more time off

Used to tie my own as a teenager. Not sure I ever saved any money, but at least I knew they were well made and on decent hooks. Used to get all the materials and kit from a mail order place in N Yorks - Wetherby I think. Not sure if it still exists. It's a nice hobby and adds an extra dimension to catching if it's on one you made yourself.

Exactly. Nothing nicer than tempting a trout on a dry you have tied yourself. Where did you fly fish mate?

Just on rivers in Cumbria when i was growing up - you'd call them streams I think. Nice brown trout with a decent summer sea trout and Autumn Salmon run. Once I was over 16 it all got too spendy for licences and we moved house so went over to the dark side and started course fishing. Not sure i could cast a fly now, much less tie one!

I just had a load of goldheads, tungsten, nymphs and wets delivered.
I only tie my own salmon flies....
Trout flies are too fiddly and my specs aren't strong enough!

Big carp aren’t as fast as small ones but they are a lot stronger and fight a lot longer. Wait until you get a “proper” big un.

Sounds like a really good day. Well done on your Pb mate.

I’ve sprained the other one and can’t walk. You won’t believe how.

I kicked the wall when Lyon went 3-1 up. Feel a right dick, especially as the rivers are bang on this week for the barbel.

Fucking hell mate ! Mind you, I flounced out of the pub in a fucking rage so I don't blame you. Hope you can get mobile again soon.

Circumstances at work this week(worked my balls off) have allowed me to go fishing tomorrow, gonna prepare some corn and luncheon meat now and head off to a day ticket water at about 7am. I bought a 12ft korum barbel rod from daves of middlewich, but I,m gonna be using it to try and catch carp in the margins by freelining bait with it. If that fails I will get on the waggler as that was successful last time.Just hope the weather isnt too bad, was gonna fish my river swim, but it will need to settle down again after all the rain. Hopefully will have something to report tomorrow night.
