Bluemoon Angling Thread

It's otters round here. Local media bigging them up like mad. So cute to see so many in local rivers and backwaters!! As for the mitten crabs the whole river floor must have been covered with them! Like you say nothing will get done about them.

Signal crayfish are a problem here, along with mink, otters, cormorants and goosanders. :(

What area ,length did you fish? We are going down to the BAA length at Underdale on Wednesday. Here's hoping, but need a day out

We were slightly higher up (I think) at Uffington. My first river venture since the Wye in June and won't be going again until we've had some serious rain. Incidentally, I had a small box of worms most of which I chopped up and dropped in at close range in a couple of balls of groundbait. Then dropped a worm on top and had a three-quarter pound perch straight off. Next cast had one of 1.25lbs on the drop but then ran out of worms. Not a sign of the bream I was after.

Thanks for the info. Yes you were not far away, a bit downstream. We've not been out for weeks, then only local, so we'll enjoy the day out and the chat as much as the fishing.

I’ve mainly turned my attention to perch this autumn and have been out for a few sessions with lure and/or worm. Had lots of small ones and a Jack or two but nothing over a pound.

Friday afternoon I had free to went to a proper urban setting where I know they visit. Fished for live baits with an appreciative audience of stoned lads. Got about a dozen minnows and two roach. A back breaking move carrying a full bucket to a quieter place resulted in nothing on the minnows. I saved the roach for dusk and it paid off when the biggest was hit straight away by a plump perch which was on the way to 2lb. 9CB69874-C699-4ED2-ADC2-A9793A640497.jpeg

Another hellish day on the Teton, had to take the misses and spin fish from the kayak, lots of brook trout

Tell us more. Been a long, long wait
Looked pretty fresh. I think it had only been in the river a week or two, which isn't surprising given the lack of water.
Took a brass tube fly on a fast sink tip, the water temp has dropped with the last spate.
Only estimated weight at 8 to 10 lb as I couldn't care less and wanted it to go back safely.

Beamer has a pic..... I am too mucjh of a Shire bumpkin to know how to put one on!
