Bluemoon Player of the Month - January

Great to see so many players in with a shout. I've gone for Negredo but could easily have been one of Kompany, Navas, Kolorov, Silva. We're blessed to be witnessing this team at the moment and there's no reason why we won't get better. Good times..

Edin Dezeko for me. Scored loads of goals, for him. Some important and lets be honest mostly very, very high quality goals throughout most of January.
Two against west 'am hammerd the nails into the coffin of that game and the second was a beauty; the one against the toon was a f*ck*ng beauty and it showed early sharpness from him, which is nice if a bit surprising to see ( Dzeko in up-for-it-itis shocker ); the two against B'burn again put the nails into the coffin of the game; one against cardiff and another against spurs. 7 goals in a month is top notch striking if you ask me. The lad's done well, he's proved me wrong I think. I always thought he was a fish out of water, just not really good enough in a frustrating way. I've never, ever slated him, you don't turn on your own do you, but he makes me bite my tongue a lot, Just never really saw him as having the work rate, touch, composure, etc... to be able to play the number 9 role in a 4-2-2-2. But 7 in 9 is a pretty sh*t-hot scoring rate. Lad's done well.

















(Yeah, I know it should be Negredo BUT I kinda come to expect brilliance from him now, and he's been brilliant, but my vote went to Dzeko on a sort of most improved/most pleasantly surprised by kinda slant.)

Toughest month (to pick one player) of the season for me. The whole team has been brilliant. I really wanted to give it to Pellegrini this time, so therefore it goes to Kompany. Boss, backbone and our most important man on the pitch.

EDIT: Hope someone casts a vote for Clichy and Martin as well. Both have improved greatly this month.

Dzeko, thought his all round play was much better recently and out the front two he was the one that stood out.

Bloody hell! What a difficult choice. To select one feels like a vote against the others who have also played out of their skins. But vote we must: Navas for me.

Kolarov's been outstanding in every game this month so it's a no brainer for me. Negredo was a beast against West ham and Blackburn but struggled against Swansea, was average against Newcastle and Cardiff and didn't play against Watford or Spurs so I don't know how he's running away with it!

Navas for me. Mr. Consistent.

This shows us how much we have improved from last season. Zaba who fully deserved it and has been outstanding again this year won our player of the year last season. As much as I was pleased for zaba winning it I couldn't help think I hope our right back never wins an award like that again, shows we haven't been good enough going forward. He was the stand out candidate also. I know it's only player of the month and not the season but it's really encouraging to have so many in contention for the award and all at the top of their games. Long may it continue.
