Bluemoon's Official Top 100 Books

Six weeks later, I've finally finished "The Stand". A big thanks to everybody who recommended it because it was every bit as good as you said it would be. The characterisation was superb and on my "one book per author in the top 20" policy, it goes straight into my top 5 books of all time.

I thought that such an epic work or art deserved an in-depth (although spoiler-free) review, so I've put my thoughts on my blog:-

Glad you enjoyed it.

Nice review. The one thing I really objected to about the uncut version was the time shift in when the story occurred.

I probably preferred the shorter version but either one would still be my favourite book ever.

Cheers. I understand what SK was saying about the need for the edits, and I think he made the right decision to edit it himself rather than let some numpty cut it to bits. But the thought of getting rid of that chapter with Trashy and The Kid!!!

I probably would have bought the original had it been available but glad I read the uncut version now. Like you say, either way, it’s a masterpiece.
