Bluemoon's Official Top 100 TV Shows

Caught the end of an episode of Elizabeth R on BBC4 this week. Like Claudius studio sets with little location filming. But it was the quality of the acting and the scripts that draw you in.

These days we would get the the tabloid approach of sex and war; in the 70s it was about making people think about the nature of divine authority to rule or the role of parliamentary democracy.

Most of my 20 were vintage UK series but I have gone and ordered Chernobyl and ..... er The Sweeney! Child of the 70s through n through!

Porridge makes it 7 for me.Brilliant comedy that is still watchable today.
Inbetweeners was great at first but the movies were terrible.
1974 the first episode off Porridge.Comedy that has stood the test of time.
No way will we say the same about the Inbetweeners.

Its a generational thing mate. Arthur Askey/Flanagan and Allen fans probably said the same about Porridge at the time tbf

On a roll now, Life on Mars makes it 4. Excellent show, Ashes to Ashes though wasn't nearly as good.
Have a thing for Philip Glenister, he stars in my no.1 choice too but I could probably bet my house I'm the only one who voted for it.
Outcast?

Life on Mars was in my 20 at one point but got pushed out late on.

Couldn't get very far with final season of Twin Peaks so it wasn't in contention and it's probably a bit too odd to have made it anyway.

Porridge is still funny.

My last 4 picks are personal favourites.
Would be surprised if anybody else voted for them.
War series,Western series and 2 comedy series.

Porridge just missed my top 20 but I've always loved the film version. Comfortably the best of the many film spin offs made

Still love the line from Barrowclough 'tis better to have loved and lost than to spend your whole ruddy life with her`
