Bluemoon's Official Top 100 TV Shows

Band of Brothers was my no3. Nothing short of brilliant.
Up to 7 now but lots of my history/travel stuff will miss out. I did go for documentary series by Neil Oliver, Bruce Parry and Michael Palin so not surprised.
I had Around the World in 80 Days at #10. I love all Michael Palin’s travel programmes but this and Pole to Pole are my two favourites.

3 of the top 10 I predicted last week have fallen in the 11-20 range - replace them with Red Dwarf, Battlestar Galactica and Only Fools & Horses and that will be the top 10.

The best thing about Hill Street Blues was the opening tune
It wasn't although it is one of the great TV Theme tunes.

HSB was ground breaking TV and, on reflection, I should have put it higher up in my 20 than #7. Once upon a time it would have been my all time favourite TV show. The show's format has been hugely influential. I reckon nearly half the shows in my 20 owe it a debt. It also had a great cast and characters.

I didn't include Band of Brothers in my 20 but, on reflection, maybe I should have. Anyway, not surprised others did: it is quite superb.

I don’t care much for The Simpsons now but it was the best show on television for much of the nineties.

It won 7 Emmys and had 7 Golden Globe nominations, yet seems to fly completely under the radar when it comes to this kind of poll. I think a lot of people mistakenly regard it as a kid’s programme, but it just isn’t. The central cast were superb, and some of the ‘occasionals’ were even better. Cloris Leachman was outstanding as Lois’ bitter old bag mother, Ida, as were David Anthony Higgins as Craig Feldspar and Gary Anthony Williams as Abe Kenarban.
Scrubs was another comedy that I thought was excellent, but unlike MITM it didn’t make my top 20
Yep Scrubs again was brilliantly written though I prefer Brooklyn 99 which is similar but doesnt have the sentimental’huggy’ quality that I think sometimes let the former down.
I think you can often judge the quality of a comedy by the standard of the characters outside the main cast. Curb, Seinfeld, Porridge, South Park, Father Ted, Toast of London, Detectorists etc all had great sidemen/women

Scrubs was a great show . Is it in the 100 yet ?
