Blues in Abu-Dhabi?

Abu Dhabi over Dubai all day long.

Dubai is great entertainment city but I'll only go there for few hours, it's only 40 minutes away from Abu Dhabi anyway and probably even less if you will live outside the city of AD and heading to Shiekh Zayed Road area (Dubai Mall, Mall of Emirates) location.

Since you're a family man, Abu Dhabi is the perfect place for you. Make sure you explore the other Emirates though, spending a weekend in the Northern Parts of the UAE will be refreshing, they might not be glamorous as Dubai & AD, but the mountains in Fujairah/Ras Al Khaimah are great to see, as well as participating in activities that they offer such as :-

- Diving (<a class="postlink" href="http://alboomdiving.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://alboomdiving.com</a>)
- Marina Sea Adventures (<a class="postlink" href="http://www.marinaseaadventures.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.marinaseaadventures.com</a>)
- Rent quad ATV bikes in Ras Al-Khaimah Deserts
- Learn Flying or take a tour in small aircrafts (<a class="postlink" href="http://www.jac-uae.net/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.jac-uae.net/</a>)
- Sky Dive Dubai (<a class="postlink" href="http://www.skydivedubai.ae/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.skydivedubai.ae/</a>)

I know this is a bit early since you haven't settled in yet, but I am sure you will check these stuff in few months :)

Already planning my next trip to AD as there were many things that I unfortunately didn't get round to, one being watching the footy at the Meridian hotel at the heart of the city sports bar.
Don't go out of your way to do this as you'll be disappointed if you expect too much. The main reason it was awarded that "Heart of the City" thing was because that's where the Dubai branch arranged to have their big piss up after the friendly in 2009. The place didn't have anything to do with the Abu Dhabi branch back then and I'm pretty sure it still doesn't if portisheadblue's post on page 2 is anything to go by.

AD is very big in comparison to Dubai, with people spread out all over the place, so I'd advise you to contact the Abu Dhabi Blues themselves before bowling down to NRG, as I'm certain they don't go there every week, if at all. There are likely to be much more convenient places elsewhere in the emirate that they go to.

just come back from holiday there, also my 2 cousins live there, one is a blue..

There is a city shop in the marina shopping mall, players often visit, train with kids etc.

There is a central pub in Abu that plays the city games, quite a few blues out there to get to know.........

Sound Spot on. I ran out of things to do after 4 days in Dubai (a couple of years ago) so happy to give AD a go.

Moving out to Abu Dhabi in August. Just missing the first game of the season, but hopefully catching the Community Shield before we go. I would really appreciate someone letting me know where the best place for me and my boy to watch City? We will be living on Al Reem Island; so any tips for somewhere reasonably close by?
