Blues in Failsworth

Other random fact about the Nelson, The Stone Roses decided to reform in there.

My old man still goes in the Nelson on a Monday night, Mani's dad still does too.

Back in the day, we would go from Newton Heath (I lived on Albert Gardens, off Averill St, last street before it becomes Failsworth) up to The Black Horse, then Mare & Foal, and The Bridge before our favourite pub, The Pack Horse. Clearly we were fans of Marston's beers. Great times.

Did a walking pub crawl for my birthday a few years ago. We walked to Nelson tavern up the dirt track coming from droylsden. Then on to the windmill. Then to the very quite eight bells. Then we walked to the willow. That was the end of our walking it was taxis after that to woodhouse gardens. What a way to spend a Saturday afternoon/evening.
Both my mate and I are called Paul.
but is his nickname Steve:)

The Nelson, do they still have Cobra on tap in there? Bit random considering it’s not a curry house. I used to frequent the Windmill a decade a go, heard it went down hill a bit not to sure what it’s like now.

Nelson has just the bog standard Fosters/Carling/John Smiths 'beers' on nowadays. The Windmill is now owned by Star Pubs & Bars (Heineken) and was refurbed a year or two ago by them. A lot better than it used to be.
