Thought it would be interesting to compare the points scoring for this year against last year and see how things may have changed with the new entry system, so I've found the corresponding table for this time last year:

1) Feed-The-Goat 8610
2) Carstairs 7545
3) leighton 7195
4) homerdog 7180
5) bluemonkey71 7070

32) pauldominic 3595
33) Failsworth_Blue 3430
34) Blob Taylor's Gruds 2215.

The difference between top spot is just 130 points, whilst the gap between 1st and 2nd is 1110 this year and was 1065 last year, so marginally higher this year. The difference between last place between the two years is 150 points, but you start the see the changes in the entry system with the effect it has on the rest of the table. Only 1 team at this stage last time out had less than 3000 points, we currently have 9. 14 teams had over 6000 points whilst only 8 do this year. There's a big 760 point difference between 10th place last year and this year, and a massive 1320 point difference for 16th place.

In total 190,815 points had been scored by this stage last year, at an average of 5612.2 per team. This year 171,195 points have been scored at an average of 4389.6 per team, so it's clear that the new entry system has made it harder to score points. It has also rewarded consistent form, as the likes of Tiger and Kuchar have meant teams with those players in are dominating the competition. We're 22 weeks into the season, this means the rate of points per week was 8673.4 last year compared to 7781.6 this year. The total number of points scored last year was 510,280, which works out over what I think was a 47 week season as 10,857 points per week, so you can clearly see that the points earned per week should go up quite considerably between now and the end of the season.

On a positive note our runaway leader did not win the title last year and was beaten by a team that was 1775 points behind at this stage. Sadly the gap between 1st and 4th is exactly that already, so Phuket Blue does have a strong advantage. Still we can pray for miracles.

Onto this week and it's a quieter week as most stars head off early to the US Open, but Mickelson and DJ both play:

PGA Tour-FedEx St. Jude Classic-Category D.
European Tour-Lyoness Open powered by Greenfinity-Category E.

Enjoy.

Swiftly onto this week and the 2nd Major of the year at what is seemingly more Lake Merion that Merion GC. Nonetheless some very good golfers are going to attempt to hack their ball around the Pennsylvanian swamp for 4 days and provided they don't drown one of them will win hopefully.

All joking aside this also means the Quarter-Finals of the coveted Golf Cup, here is the draw if you've forgotten:

BM Golf Cup
Quarter Finals-Fixtures

Balti v The cookie monster
Tenerife Blue v Brisblu
TaxiforCreaney v PhuketBlue
leighton v MC

Should be fun, here's the categories:

Major-U.S. Open-Category A.
European Tour-Najeti Hotels et Golfs Open presented by Neuflize OBC-Category F.

Key pairings for the opening 2 rounds of the US Open(All times UK, USA Unless Stated):

12.00pm-Nicolas Colsaerts BEL, Bubba Watson & Zach Johnson.
12.07-Peter Hanson SWE, Hunter Mahan & Nick Watney.
12.11-Keegan Bradley, Phil Mickelson & Steve Stricker.
12.18-Paul Casey ENG, Lucas Glover & Bill Haas.
12.22-Matt Kuchar, Justin Rose ENG & Brandt Snedeker.
12.33-Tim Clark RSA, Louis Oosthuizen RSA & Charl Schwartzel RSA.
12.44-Stewart Cink, Sergio Garcia ESP & Padraig Harrington IRE.
12.55-Jason Dufner, Ian Poulter ENG & Boo Weekley.
1.06-Jason Day AUS, Rickie Fowler & Matteo Mannassero ITA.
5.52-Luke Donald ENG, Martin Kaymer GER & Lee Westwood ENG.
6.03-Jim Furyk, Dustin Johnson & Graeme McDowell NIR.
6.14-Rory McIlroy NIR, Adam Scott AUS & Tiger Woods.
6.36-Ernie Els RSA, Steven Fox(a) & Webb Simpson.

Garcia back with Harrington again and most interestingly Woods & Scott together for the first time since the caddie debacle I think. Rory also has to show something this week alongside Tiger.

Re: Bluemoon Golf Competition 2013 **Important Update**

Apologies for the sluggish update. We had a very tight and dramatic US Open last week deservedly won by Justin Rose who becomes the first English winner of a major since 1996, and he'll head to Muirfield for the Open as a hero and the man to watch.

Plenty of points on offer as PhuketBlue extends his lead:

1) PhuketBlue 8880
2) Matthew Cojeen 7570
3) Carstairs 7295
4) mindmyp's_n_q's 7070
5) leighton 7045

We also had the Quarter-Finals of the BM Golf Cup, here are the results:

If anyone knows how long Oosthuizen will be out with his hip injury it would be appreciated.

Important: Trade Window Proposal

Ok we're halfway through and we can clearly see how the table is shaping up. Those with Woods, Rose, Kuchar are running off into the distance and there's an important balancing act for me here to reward people who picked the right players from the start and to give teams the chance to freshen up their side, cut 6 months worth of losses and become more competitive for the rest of the season.

So we're going to be very open and democratic and I'm going to put forward a proposal for a trade window and you guys will vote for or against it. Ideally I want a full turnout, i.e. every team to vote but I'm going to put a minimum turnout of 75% for the vote to become valid, that way it is an overwhelming majority who have voted. If there's an even split in voting bar a few percent to me that means there's a clash of what should happen and therefore I would not deem it wise to enforce a trade window, so I'm going to state that a "Yes" vote would need at least 65% of the total votes in order for us to have a trade window.

The proposed rules for such a trade window are as follows:

-It will run in the 2 week period from after The Irish Open to before the Scottish Open(July 1st-10th).
-The trade window will be closed between July 4th-7th for the French Open.
-You will be allowed to trade a maximum of 2 players. You will be able to change your player from outside the top 100 plus a maximum of 1 of your other team members. Thus you are only allowed to change 1 player that you paid for from your original budget.
-The players values will remain as they were from the start of the year to eradicate any suggestion of bias. However the players will be adjusted for their current ranking so if they have swapped categories this will be reflected. In the event a player has dropped out of the top 100 they become free. If they enter the top 100 they will take the average value of all the other players in that category.
-You will only be able to choose players who have NOT already been selected by another team. The list of players who are available will be posted and you can choose from that list for the top 100, outside the top 100 and the rule applies but no list will be published(too many players).
-You will only be able to select a player of equal or lesser value than the player you are trading. The category you pick from will be the same category as your player was originally in, regardless of whether or not they dropped/improved category. The only exception will be if you came in under budget originally, in which case you will be allowed to use your excess budget to sign a higher value player. I will provide a list of all players who have a budget surplus before the trade begins.
-The trade will be open to all teams.

The voting opens as of now and I hope you all take part. Any questions will be duly answered.

Onto this week and I know we're most of the way through it but never mind. This is the key stretch of the European Tour season with strong fields and to reflect this every event on the European Tour up till The Open will be a Category C. Here are the categories for this week:

European Tour-BMW International Open-Category C.
PGA Tour-Travellers Championship-Category C.

Enjoy and please vote.
