BMG v City post match thread

Absolutely dire first half. Our defending was really poor and we have to do much better attacking wise. Really disappointed in some of the performances tonight. The full backs were abysmal. And I'm really surprised Aguero got 90 minutes. He was dreadful again and Kelechi should have had half an hour.

Aguero is given a thankless task and gets isolated. If he doesn't get any service or if a move doesn't come off perfectly it means he has to beat a defence on his own to get any joy. He gets the ball facing the wrong way and gets closed down so he has to be brilliant just to even end up facing goalwards.

A game of football did threaten to break out when Silva, De Bruyne, Gundogan interchanged passes in midfield - all class players. Sterling is the exception. What is he? A forward that can't shoot? A winger that can't cross? A midfielder who can't control the ball in a tight space? When Sterling isn't having a great game he looks mediocre and that's how he looked tonight.

I think you have hit the nail on the head.
Pep doesn't have all the players he would want to play the football that he (Pep) wants. I can see we are in Transition so any ideas of us winning the PL
this season - is a pipedream.

It fcukin shouldn't be, given our resources. We finished fourth under an under-performing Audrey, spent another £150m and brought in the elite manager we have chased for years. The rags are shite. Spurs are pretty ordinary this year. Dippers and Chelsea are also in transition so why should we finish below any of them? That only leaves Arsenal and Mr Wenger.

Which of those squads has all the players they crave?

Poor.

Through.

Good.

I do fear for the Celtic attendance now, won't be great.

I also look forward to us actually playing well sometime soon.
I'm hoping the Celtic game will offer opportunity to the fringe players/kids,for that reason it may be a decent enough crowd.

Unfortunately, imo, there are a couple of key options that we don't have when tasked with breaking down a team sticking all their men behind the ball - both options are ones that pep has had at Barca and Bayern.

Either a wide player that can skin people for fun - Messi, Robben, etc OR a physical world class striker - Lewandoski.

Hopefully Gabriel Jesus will help address one of these options.

I've taken dumps more exciting than that match.

We're through though. All that matters.

Just hoping the lethargy on show was more a game-plan of not playing too strenuous as a draw was all was needed; plus a game on Saturday.
