Board games

Most fondly remembered from childhood are:
Buccaneer
Cluedo
something called "Millionaire"
Wembley (about the FA Cup, obviously. Playing it once i had City as one of my teams and to my shame cheated to get them through the semi-final, only to lose to Blackpool.)

best of all wasn't a board game as such but a cricket game "Owzat!" played with a little 8-sided thing you rolled across the table.

We used to play eng v aus test matches with Owzat. We had scorecards which we meticulously filled in. The games would take for ever. Ken Barrington was a star for us.

I love playing Scrabble, best using 8 letters though. I regularly score 300+ if I draw decent tiles. Mind you the way I've been drawing recently I think I could probably make up great words in Icelandic and Swahili.

Last game I played I had more O's than Ronnie Barker: /
8 letters is cheating, worse than foc's using band lists to jog their memories of tunes. ;)

Backgammon is the greatest game. I love it just behind City and my wife.
You can play online too, I was like cry to win a tournament this weekend
I as well really enjoy Backgammon, and I'm not saying I'm any kind of semi-pro, far from it but, when you get to a certain level the proper moves are more obvious than not, hence the dice and luck play a huge part. Even aside from rolling frequent doubles if your rolling low for 5-6 turns in a row you could go behind 30-40 pips in a flash, having the same amount of turns.

We have that in one of our wardrobes. I'm fucked if I can understand what it's all about!
