Board Games

I used to love Risk. Never played the version were you could attack under/through the board so you didn’t have to border the country you were attacking.

Air land and sea great 2 player. Quick cheap and very competive.
Perudo for 4-8 players and great bluffing game.
Schotten totten for a 2 player card game.
High society for 3-5 player auction game.
Camel up for 2-5 gambling racing game.

Any here enjoy playing board games? What games are you playing?

I have recently started playing board games with the kids; enjoy playing Monopoly, chess and have just purchased Risk and Stratego.

Love Stratego

Got a bit of a love hate relationship with boardgames..we had 2 main ones in our house.
Scrabble is great, you get your own little pew or whatever it is to nestle your too many vowels on and you have to let all the other players know how bad your letters are (I think that's in the rules) yet without saying what they actually are (might not be in the rules, but it's at least bad etiquette)
There is also a bag, and most of the conversation is about passing the bag around. Where's the bag!? The downside is people just put S's on the end of words which is infuriating! I go and put Qualm down, and then someone puts an S on the end, they didn't even have to think up the world Qualm, probably didn't even think it was a real word, but they'll gladly put an S on the end and get more points than i got.
Monopoly, I like the pieces, especially the dog, my mum would always be the iron. I guess because she was the main ironer in the house.
If you played your Q and didn't benefit from a triple letter/word score then you deserve to have someone winning more points for making it plural. You should never waste a Q like that. Love Scrabble me.

This was my favourite as a kid.

I always enjoy playing board games. Some from my youth include:

Escape from colditz, Battle of the little Big Horn, Totopoly, Careers, Mine a million, Bucaneer and Spy Ring. I play Exploration with my 9 year old Grandson and he loves it. Its one of the few games were finishing first doesn't mean you've won, it's all about the money you've made.

Is CHULP a word? Are there any words with seven vowels, Dad? Can I have CATTING? Why not Dad, you said DOGGING was OK.

My kids got a Harry Potter version with some extra rules, and magical words are allowed. EXPELLIARMUS and HIPPOGRIFF are acceptable, but impossible to place from a seven letter rack.
